Ukonniemi area in Imatra offers an international level setting for cross-country skiing training and competitions. The race ski tracks in Ukonniemi comply with the FIS standards. Ukonniemi area and its services provide a perfect setting for training camps and competitions. The earliest first snow ski track of Southern Finland is opened in October each year and offers the option to organise snow camps also in Southern Finland. During the snowfree-season skiers can enjoy the best roller skiing track in Finland, designed specifically for roller skiing and training of ski sports .
The Finnish cross-country skiing championships were held in Ukonniemi in 2016 and 2019. Also international competitions organised by FIS have been held in Ukonniemi.
Training facilities and other services
The ski track network surrounding the Ukonniemi Stadium, the first snow ski track, and other sports facilities in the Ukonniemi area offer an excellent setting for sport camps and competitions.
During the snow season, Ukonniemi offers access to a 35 km ski track network. The race ski tracks in Ukonniemi comply with the FIS standards.
The first snow ski track is made every autumn on top of the roller skiing track and in the surrounding environment. Season 2024 will start on 17th October with 2 kilometer long track.
The roller skiing track in Ukonniemi is among the best tracks in Finland designed for ski sports summer training. Completed in 2015, the track is modern and has a profile similar to current competition tracks.

There are two downhill skiing centres within a 25 min driving distance for Nordic walking on slopes in summer.
The centres have several slopes with an elevation of 70 metres for the training.
Freeski in Ruokolahti and Myllymäki in Lappeenranta.
There are 14 ski wax cabins located in the vicinity of the Ukonniemi Stadium. The booths have mechanical ventilation and can be rented in connection to training camps and competitions.

Storage premises can be reserved for camp groups at the Ukonniemi Stadium.
Dressing rooms and showers are located in the adjacent Aviasport Areena. Toilets can be found both in the auditorium and customer service point of the stadium.
The customer service point is open every day when the first snow skiing track is open. At other times, please contact the Stadium Manager.

Ukonniemi Stadium was completed in 2015 and it has a 30-lane target range, which is equipped with automatic Kurvinen Biathlon Targets.
